Level I water quality

Water is one of the most commonly used solvents in the laboratory. In some cases, water content is more than 99% of the weight of a solution. Therefore, laboratory water quality is a critical factor in determining the quality and reliability of tests. Based on the quality of purification, water is divided into: Water quality level I, water quality level II, and water quality level III. There’s also a separate group of water systems for analyzers.

Water quality level I – ultraclean water
Merck produces water systems that supply ultraclean water. Some of them simply use tap water; others need clean water (Elix, RiOs systems, distilled or DI water). When choosing an ultraclean water system, you should be guided by the following parameters: quality of the water supplied, disposable and one-day ultraclean or ultraclean and clean water consumption, water quality monitoring, certification level, etc.
Ultra pure water straight from the tap

For laboratories that do not have access to clean water Merck offers compact systems that produce pure and ultra pure water straight from the tap water. The system offers several advantages: 

  • A complete water system of minimal footprint in any laboratory with feed water available.
  • Provides users with full autonomy in choosing the water treatment stages and the final water quality.

 Milli-Q® IQ 7003/05/10/15

The Milli-Q® IQ 7003/7005/7010/7015 system is a fully-integrated and modern water purification system delivering both superior-quality ultra pure (Type I) and pure (Type II) water direct from a tap water source. With the integrates Elix® electrodeionization (EDI) technology, intuitive touchscreens, Q-POD® ultra pure and E-POD® pure dispensers, and mercury-free UV lamps, this system will exceed all your expectations, from improved lab productivity to accelerated research.


Milli-Q® Direct

In a single device, both RO (Type III) water and ultra pure (Type I) water are produced directly from potable water.



These systems purify water to Type III quality, as well as to Type I quality (reaching a resistivity of 18.2 MΩ.cm at 25°C). Depending on daily volume needs, different RO production flow rates are available (3, 5, and 8 L/h). Type 3 water is easily available from the 6L built-in storage tank, or the external 30/60 L storage tanks for the higher flow rates.

These systems purify water to Type I quality and reaching a resistivity of 18.2 MΩ.cm at 25°C.



These systems are designed for laboratories that already have access to purified water and need a local system to provide Type I water. 



Water purification system Simplicity® can be placed anywhere in the laboratory. No specific installation nor connection to water/sewage systems is needed. It provides Type I quality water (18,2 MΩ • cm at 25°C).



Super-Q® is a high-flux water purification system, designed to purify the water already treated with reverse osmosis, distilled or deionized to Type I quality. Super-Q® systems consistently produce ultra pure water quality which exceeds Type I ASTM/CAP/CLSI specifications.
